Mentoring Children of Prisoners

America On Track's Mentoring Children of Prisoners program is designed to create opportunities for future success by providing the children of prisoners with quality, one-on-one mentor/mentee relationships lasting a minimum of one year, plus special outings, free books, resources for their guardians plus access to our Brighter Futures for Children of Prisoners program.

There is a great need to keep helping children of prisoners who have almost become the "forgotten" children of Orange County. Because of the social stigma imposed on children of prisoners as well as their unfortunate circumstances, through no fault of their own, these children often live in fear, poverty and sorrow.

Because children of prisoners are at a higher risk of educational failure, dropping out of school, early substance use and abuse, and coming into contact with the juvenile justice system, America On Track continues to place a focus on strategic intervention in order to keep children of prisoners on the right track.

For economic and social reasons, it is clear that preventative measures need to be taken. America On Track is the only agency in Orange County specifically providing comprehensive mentoring and wraparound services to children of prisoners and their families.
